Benylin with Codeine Cough syrup 100ml contains Diphenhydramine, ammonium chloride and codeine. This combination relieves congestion, dries a runny nose and post-nasal drip. Also, it thins mucus to relieve coughing and also suppresses the cough reflex centrally.
- Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that relieves congestion and post-nasal drips,
- Ammonium chloride is the expectorant which thins mucus.
- Codeine suppresses the cough reflex by calming the part of the brain that regulates coughing.
- Adults and children aged 12 years and over:
Oral. 10 ml syrup 4 times a day.
- Children under 12 years:
Benylin with Codeine Cough syrup 100ml is contraindicated in children under the age of 12 years (see section 4.3).
- The Elderly:
Normal adult dosage is appropriate, [See Pharmacokinetics in the Elderly].
Do not exceed the stated dose.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
