Could it be hemorrhoids?

Have you ever experienced bleeding or discomfort while visiting the toilet for a long call? It could be that you are suffering from hemorrhoids.

These are swollen veins in the rectum or anus that cause the bleeding or discomfort. They occur when pressure is exerted on the veins surrounding the anus.

The causes of such pressure include

-Straining during a bowel movement

-Sitting for a long period, especially the toilet

-Chronic constipation

They could be internal or external. Internal ones develop within the anus or rectum while external ones occur outside the anus. The common ones are the external ones that cause itching, pain, and difficult sitting.

Symptoms of hemorrhoids

Irritation and pain around the anus

Extreme itching around the anus

Fecal leakage

Itchy or painful lump or swelling near your anus

painful bowel movements

Blood on the tissue after a bowel movement

To prevent hemorrhoids, consume foods that are high in dietary fiber

-Exercise to prevent constipation

-Use a toilet once you have a bowel movement

-Drink enough water-Avoid sitting for a long period

Bottom line, hemorrhoids are not life-threatening. They can be treated while others go away on their own. If you notice bleeding and have severe symptoms, kindly see a doctor
